Reflections On A Semester

1. what did you learn about photography that you did not know before? I learned that you can make and ugly thing beautiful with photography. I also learned how to take different kinds of photos using different shutter speeds and different tools on photo shop. I didn't know that you can take photos in the was that we have done in this semester, i use to think that there were just regular photos that you take and that there was bad photos that you could take, but now i know that there is a variety of different photos that you can take with your camera and also film camera and develop it in chemicals

2. What did you learn about yourself this semester? I learned to be honest and take pride in your work that i did. Also to step out of my comfort zone a little and take photos in places i wouldn't think of taking photos there. I learned that i can take beautiful photos and to be able to do stuff with photography that i never would have thought that i could with photos.

3. What do you wish we had done that we didn't? I wish that we would have done more of the light writing and have it worth an actual assignment and not just extra credit. Also i wish that we had done just more photos in general and explore the different types of shutters and settings that we could use to take the photo.

4. What was your struggle? My biggest struggle was with the blur photos. When we had to take two types of blur: still and pan. The still was the easiest out of the two because you needed to capture something moving so then when you take the photo it is blurred. The pan was the hardest out of the two because you needed to capture something with blur and something with out. I could get the right amount of blur in the background and when i did get the blurred background the subject that i was photographing was also blurred.

5. What did you conquer? I conquered a lot of things this semester in photography. The main thing that i conquered was taking the blur photos. Even though in the begging i struggled with it i eventually got it and after i got the hang of it, it was easy for me. Another thing that i conquered was taking the panoramas and the 360 planets. I struggled in the begging with getting the photos stitched together and making it work and looking like a planet, but i eventually got it and it was easy after that. I think that i conquered a lot this semester, just being able to taking these photos and having it turn out pretty well was an accomplishment for me.

Light Photos

From this project i learned that there are different ways of taking photos with light to create shadows. One of the types is direct light, which i used a desk lamp and shined it on my subject. The second type was silhouette, which you are in front of the light and photographing your subject, so it is light subject and then camera. We went out to my friends garage and had a light in front of the subject and then photographed her to create a shadow. We were able to create the shadow better with direct light because we could get a better shadow out of it.
